Unique Wall Pipe Holder with 3 drawers

This unique pipe holder is hand crafted signed and dated - It was a Christmas gift to a Dad back in 1949 - it was signed by the child who made it

This unique wall box can also be used as a holder for your wooden spoons

I left the wood in the original condition, I just oiled it to bring out the wood grain

It is truly a one of a kind

To learn more about this pipe holder check out my ebay listing, you can find my link on the about me section of this blog.  My seller ID on ebay is sunnydaz8

I used the holes that were drilled for the pipes for the spoons

The pipe holder can be used as a shelf to display your mashers, mortar & pestles etc.

The signature & date show up clearly on my ebay listing

Happy Monday

Well, the weekend is over and time to get my new listing together.  You can find me on ebay as sunnydaz8 for more information on these items.

One of the items I will be listing is a basket I owned for a while and since I have no use for it at this time, it is time to pass it on to the next generation.

The basket is in excellent condition, with its swing handles and hinged lid
I did paint the top of the lid, but the inside of the lid is in the original wood color

The next item I will be listing is a wire dish rack that I found at the antique store yesterday.  The rack comes from the 1940's / 1950'

It was an important part of the kitchen

I thought you can either use it to display your wooden ware or use it for a wall display for your spoons and utensils - makes a unique wall hanging.

I used a hanging ladle and added a votive candle for an added touch

Weekend Post

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.  We decided to go antique shopping today to see if there were some interesting finds for my ebay listings.  We did find some interesting things, but we also found a neat grinder to add to my husband's collection.  This grinder is the largest one he has.  It show signs of age and ware just a nice piece with the aged painted metal.  It also has the original wood top.  The smaller grinder has been in his collection but it no longer has the wood top.

I clamped a vintage meat grinder to a wall shelf and add a tin strainer for a unique wall hanging.  I am always looking for new ways to display the grinders we have collected.

Hope you enjoy seeing these old grinders, they are a nice thing to pass down to the next generation.  Of course I enjoy using my food processor and blender but it is nice to step back in time and see what kitchen tools were used years ago.

Thank you for stopping by my blog

Listings for ebay

Today I am re-listing items that have been requested by some of my ebay buyers.

This small firkin has been repainted - It has canted sides.  To see a description and the size of this firkin check out my ebay listing.  My user ID is sunnydaz8.  You can find my link on the about me section of this blog.

The apothecary is not a vintage cabinet.  I did re-paint it in an old style green and I also added sawtooth hanger to make it easy to hang.

I am also re-listing this old corbel that has the original finish.  It never has been painted so it shows years of age with a rich patina.  There are some chips in the leaf design.

This is an old cradle that was made for some special little girl many years ago.  When I bought it the rockers were broken, so I decided to make it into a wood box for storing bowls, fruit, etc.

Thank you to all my followers.

Happy Friday

Well, the week is over and it is time to have a relaxing weekend.

Hope everyone enjoys their time off

Today I am listing an old sleeve board - I love re-purposing them so they don't land in the dump

The sleeve board use to be so important to the home sewer.  Now they are made differently and all the old wood boards are being tossed aside.

I decided to re-purpose it into a broom rack

My ebay listing also includes the old dust pan & broom

You can use the rack to store brooms or even a wash basin as shown above.

Thank you so much for stopping by - to find out more about this listing and seeing my other ebay auctions my seller id is sunnydaz8 - you can click on my link on the about me section of this blog.

My ebay listing for today

When using the words original for antiques & primitives

This is my understanding of what is called an original

An item can be called original if it was made entirely by you or if it is being sold in its original condition

Re-purposing  an old item does not make it an original

It is your idea at best

If you did not copyright or patent  your idea, anyone can use it

Antiques or old items if sold in thier original condition can be an original but no credit is given to the seller since they did not make it

When looking at my work this is the formula I use.  I NEVER call an item I re purposed  an original - I let the buyer know it is re purposed

I mention all the changes I made to the item that changed it from its original appearence

I also let the  buyer  know if I cleaned the item or rubbed it with oil so they are aware of any changes I made.

Thank you for stopping by my blog

Old attic dried mangle board

This is an original mangle board since it is in its original condition -

It shows years of use and age and has never been refinished

A vintage wood trivet/server or riser

This is an original - it has not been modified in any way it has the original finish - It was cleaned with a damp cloth

Happy Monday

New ebay listings

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.  On Saturday we had rain so we weren't able to go out to see the foliage and than on Sunday we found the colors where not as bright as we had hoped, so we decided not to take pictures.   We celebrated my Grandson's birthday on Friday and I gave him the log home my father made over 50 years ago.  He was so surprised to get it, I also told him some of the history of the house.  I am so happy I was able to pass it down to him.

To see my complete ebay listing click on the link on the about me section of this blog.  My seller name on ebay is sunnydaz8.

A tribute to my Father
My memories are my most valuable possession

My father passed away many years ago,  this year I wanted to remember him in a special way.  I remembered when I was a small child in school the teacher wanted to make a scene for Thanksgiving showing how the Pilgrims lived when they came to America. My Father was not born in America, but he was so proud to be an American.  The class was  going to build a village.  My Father was a carpenter and many times back then there was no work for carpenters in the winter.  I came home all excited and told him about the plans our teacher had and I wanted to know if he could build a log house.  He said yes, but that I had to gather all the branches he would need to make the cabin.  So together we built the cabin, I gathered the branches and he built it.  He took such pride in building the cabin, I knew he was enjoying this project as much as I was.    The teacher was so impressed with the cabin, that I won the prize.

This cabin has been with me ever since, it is over 50 years old and I am still amazed at how my Father had such pride in creating it. It is still so sturdy.   He used small nails & even straight pins to put it together.  It was truly built with love.  My Father loved his craft, he was a great carpenter.

Now it is time to pass this log cabin on to the next generation, as I think of each of my grandchildren I know one will appreciate it more than the others.  Since my grandson enjoys the outdoors, hard work and hopes to be a woodsmen.  I decided to pass it on to him.

Primitives are more than decorating your house, it is the memories that can be passed down to the next generation.
